so, i really don't care for these fish, but yesterday when picking up my urchin at the lfs, my mom saw them and thought they were different looking and liked them. I'm trying to get my parents to like the tank. If i were to get a trio of these i would be overstocked but my skimmmer would be able to handle it. She also saw a nice fat looking mandarin, but theres no way i'm getting one of those. So to make my mom happy and possibly have these fish as "hers" should i be ok to get them? lol she also saw some wrasses and said they looked like betas and didn't like them, which i was surprised because i love wrasses, and betas :D
    Here's my potential stocking list:

    pair of b & w clowns
    red velvet fairy wrasse
    blue spot jawfish
either purple fire fish or helfrichs fire fish

this is for a 46 gallon reef, no sump

They are pretty small fish. IMO as long as you have enough filtration you should be alright. I would just make sure to keep your eyes on your paramaters.

yea my skimmer is rated for 100something tank and is an ocotpus so filteration shouldn't be a problem, so the only thing that i should have to worry abot is paramaters

ok, lol maybe can get my mom to buy the cardinals but i don't think she will. But if it will make her be interested in the tank i will buy them myself if she wont. This just means i'll need a massive CUC to be handle all the fish

    What type of cardinal?

Bangaii, Pajama are the most common in trade that I have seen. Over time the pajamas actually get quite big, rivaling most clowns I have seen. Not sure on the Bangaii.

black w/ white stipes and spots?

If so, I would pass. They are one of my favorite fish, however they are not very hardy. Their survival rate is not very good. If you can find a tank raised one, I am told they fair much better.

I had a bangii and it was the hardiest fish I had it survived everything. I'm pretty sure that they are no longer capturing them from the wild as they are an endangered species. So in that case you will only find tank bred species.
