got a little click happy while photobucket was taking its time and inadvertently clicked a banner ad. 30 seconds later all my security software started going nuts. Trojan that looks like MS warnings (a "you" where a "your" was needed gave it away to me) started trying to "protect me" further ::)

anyway, that machine is being reinstalled so I am on my wife's laptop... P is pictureless for a few days.

definitely came from a photobucket banner ad. just lettin folks know.

Is it the trojan that looks just like a Window's Security Center and creates all these pop ups?

yeah maybe. I noticed a lot of "internet security 2010" that almost looked like MS products. I sent photobucket a mail - they may or may not really care, I've never worked with them before. But I doubt they did this on purpose or anything.

I got one of those and it is a pain to get off your computer! It actually installs itself and looks so official I almost fell for it. It uses the same screen as actual Window programs. It starts up when you turn the computer on, and when you try to go on the internet all these pop ups appear. Not sure if you saw the same one....I think it was called Windows Defender. Anyway, you have to use free malaware software to get it off your computer. It's a pain!

true that ;) if nothing else, I can count on MS to use grammar and spell correctly.

a lot of these nasties are so real looking nowadays... I'm glad the evil coders don't have the same sort of "quality control".
