    Hi all,

At the end of December of 2009 I started a 20 gal marine tank. I have about 12lbs of live rock two percula clowns and a yellow tank. I am using a fluval 305, and 24" Coralife compact florescent tank light with white bulb and blue bulb. How long should I wait before I can safely put a carpet anemone in the tank? If I shop the net who would you all recommend when shopping for anemones? I hope to get a skimmer for my birthday so that should be up and running after this coming Tuesday. Any and all help and suggestion is greatly appreciated.;D

    Thanks
    Gus Gonzalez

not from any experience but i believe the rule of thumbs is that nems shouldn't be added untill roughly 12mths after setting it up. Some if it was set up in Dec 09, no nems till Dec 10.
Just m2c from my readings :)

2 things... a carpet nem isnt going to like a 20 gal tank OR compact fluorescent lighting. not to otherwise bash you, but a yellow tang in a 20 gal is not going to go down well with the people here on this site haha trust me just go with the flow.

    Thanks for the info.

Thanks for the info. What nem do you suggest when the tank is ready for one? Let me know.

    Thanks

Carpets need more intense lighting than PC (compact flourescent) as a general rule. Even if you got more intense lighting and/or compensated with target feeding, etc, carpet anemone's get BIG and will outgrow a 20g very quickly.

a tang in a 20 gal will also create the neverending algae and fish deaths.

Big no no. Seen a 150g tank with a carpet nem that was 1/5 of the guys tank. So about 30" in diameter I'd say.
