Try both and see what you like - its all down to personal taste. I dont like covering my tank as it encourages salt creep. But that's me........

I would do a screen. Neither glass nor egg crate. As said, glass is going to hamper your gas exchange big time. I have personally had 2 fish make it through egg crate.

i used screen door material. secured to where needed with velcro. easy to remove , looks better than egg crate , easy to wash of salt creep and also easier to mold to the desired effects. kinda a self enclosed system.

I am not a glass top fan. Even with a skimmer going, it can greatly impede O2/CO2 exchange. Not only does that mean less oxygen for the livestock, but an increase in CO2 means an increase in carbonic acid production, which leads to lowered pHs. Too many times, low pH problems have been solved with removal of the glass top.

Couple of varying opinions about not allowing evaporation ruin the room over time and glass tops not allowing oxygen exchange, I'm currently topping up 2 litres a day into my 260 litre system, will this number increase if I go with egg crate? And will having egg crate top mean more fluctuations in salinity?
