My cat only is interest in the tank when the fish have a freak out and fly around. Its has stood on the lighting once(held over the tank by braces). I suppose its possible for it to knock something into the tank that is unsecured.

I don't think most(if any) regular breeds of cats will go fishing, perhaps maybe a bengal cat.

On our farm here in AZ we have 3 dogs, two tanks and we also rescue cats. Right now we have 12 cats at our house and only 1 of them is interested in the 46 BF but not the QT tank in my living room. Mostly, she just sits there and watches the fish swim by. Once in a while she will swat her paw at the glass but then realizes she can't get to the fish and gives up. LOL I saw her taste the water once, but has not touched it again.

The only issue I had with one of my cats (who was hunter) was that she would sit on the light (because it was warm) and it was an open tank. She is fatty too, and never broke the plastic legs. And the cat is always an issue, I have a closed system now and see cat hair floating around

My cats are only interested in the tank when there is a new addition which will only keep their eye for about 5 min and then they are bored again... be careful of your wires though some cats like to chew on cords.

My Cat has jumped on my top when I put the hood on, but when it's open they seem to leave it be. I push a salt bucket up close to the glass so they can look in. Sometimes they are interested and watch it like it was tv haha, but lately my cat has not really done much watching.

Depending on if its a long haired cat, you're going to hate the amount of hair that will get all over your tank. I find hair all over the place, so I figure it's just inevitable with long hair cats, maybe not short tho.

    Enjoy the kitty :)

My cat zorn, one of five, loves the tank and will watch it for hours, he loves to play tag with my tang by jumping up and touching the front glass where he is. My tang doesn't care much about it anymore and Zorn has never tried to jump up. Never had anyother cats interested in the tank
