    What brace exactly are you talking about? The one in the middle of the stand in the back that runs from the top of the stand to the bottom? We removed ours on our 55, put in our tightly fitting sump, and replaced the center brace with a piece of plywood that covers most of the back of the stand. It involved almost all water removed & half of the rock, a jack, a couple pieces of 2x4, some nerves, and some cussing LOL. Worked out great, though.
