I'm wondering why the chaeto in my fuge isnt growing, its been a few days now. I havent seen any growth at all. Just some shedding from the flow but its done doing that and hasn't grown at all.

I must admit though that in just a couple of days of using the regufium, my corals seem healthier, certain polyps of green palys that never opened just did and I was gettin build of diatoms or brownish algae in my cpr skimmer which is no longer happening either but I havent noticed any growth from the chaeto itself. I used to have it in a DIY HOB filter converted in refugium thing in which it was slowly dying off, which explains the initial shedding, but its nice and green still and I also have gracilaria in there that doesnt look like its growin either. Am I just being impatient? Does it take a while for it to take off? I have a 23w bulb 100w equivalent 6500k over it.The 10g is half full and the light sits on top on reverse schedule

mine hasnt really grown in like 6 weeks. I cut it in half the other day and threw out one half to "harvest it" and try to encourage growth.

Sorry i dont have an answer but i would say to give it a little more time than a few days...

lol. I guess I just had more expectations after reading threads of people with crazy growth but I guess I'm forgettin the first rule in reefing. Patience.

I had some concerns about mine as well and talked to a long time reefer and he told me a very good reason for lack of super growth is that my tank in perfectly in balance. There is enough "bad stuff" to keep the chaeto alive but not too much bio load that it has to be harvested every couple of days.

Thanks, now thats what I hope it is. Is my lighting ok or is it necessary for it to be exact wattage? Do equivalent bulbs do the trick?

I think your just expecting way too much from it. Chaeto is a plant. You wouldn't expect your house plants to look bigger in just a few days.
