I have 50 gal. fuge.... so a lot of space. I have a small "ball" of chaeto in there and it is floating on the surface. Do you normally want it a few inches under the surface? Or further down? Or is it good just right on the surface? Some of it (not much at all) is above the surface. My light is on the top of the tank so it is pretty much directly over the algae (like 2 inches above)...?

My sump is 90 gal. and a little over one half is for fuge. I JUST started it so I don't have sand or rock in it yet.... just the chaeto. I attached the pic of chaeto floating in it...

    Thats a huge sump tgood!
When I was changing my sump configuration to allow a fuge, I read that it is best to tumble it to allow all sides to get equal light. Can be done with just a air stone and a small pump. I'v only had mine fuge for a week so I have very little experience, just sharing what I read.

Heard success with a cheato cage, so I'm going to try that and plant my mangroves in the cheato.
