cheato or acheato?

So went to lfs and was asking how to say cheato to order some and told me it was acheato. What it is and what is he trying to get me to order?

 

I always thought it was chaeto for chaetomorpha. I think your LFS is

 

LOL - that's funny. next time your lfs guy says its acheto simply say "god bless you" than ask him to order you some cheato !!

My "Marine plants of the Caribbean A field guide from Florida to Brazil" does not list an acheato only Chaetomorpha linum and Chaetomorpha crassa the first is a very fine filament like hair and the second is the more like the diameter of pasta.

 

my lfs lady calls every macro Kelp. Caulerpa = kelp halimeda = kelp, etc....

When I first worked at a LFS, I didn't realize that people don't know how to properly pronounce scientific words. I had someone come in who wanted cheetos for their refugium. I was thinking, what new fad is going on now??? Putting vodka in your tank is one thing but a cheesy snack food?

You don't pronounce the "h" or the "a"

Too funny--I can't say it either, my tongue will not make those sounds. I try not to embarrass myself by asking for stuff at the lfs;D;D;D
