Way too good, now that's the good old American Spirit. Tread softly and carry a big stick I say, eh Teddy? Roosevelt that is!

So the American spirit is to paint everyone with the same brush?
Shame,  Both Canada and the US was built by Immigrants so now they are not all from Europe?  Ethnic diversity has been met with such hostility
Never though 3Reef would bring this out in me,  Sorry

Well, I must say some of the above has made me very angry and also quite sad.

This is supposed to be a friendly discussion board which includes this forum for off topic and hopefully some amuzing stories and posts.

I have removed the link from the first post as I think it is racist and has no place here. This is NOT a reflection on the person who placed the link as I am sure it was purely for fun.

Personally I have no time for this sort of humour and if you with to share it around the dinner table and amongst yourselves you have every right to. However coming from an ethnic background myself, and realising that there could well be peoples of the ethnicity and religion that link referred to on this board, I think it best removed and the whole incident forgotten

John & Jason lighten up! ;D

It's not anyones' fault here that 26 men of the same ethnic and religiuos background ruthlessly killed people from all over the world with four hijacked planes.  I would feel the same way for any country especially my brothers and sisters in Canada and Australia.

As tragic as the events were aren't we entitled to a little humour no matter how dark or gray it may be? Again no disrespect meant for anyone.

As far as being racist, NO I am not. First off, it is against everything I believe in.
2nd off, I have a friend (a police officer) that went to the Twin Towers for clean up and he brought back pictures that he had to take to show me which included shoes that still had a foot in them and no body attached, baby dolls that were burnt up with baby bottles lying next to them, body parts that were not even recognizable due to flames, emergency vehicles that were full of ashes, and not to mention the tears that ran down our faces as he recapped the ominous events that unfolded everytime he turned the corner.
I can honestly tell you that is when my GAD started.
I look at it like this, if I was to cut someone of a different color, they would bleed the same color the rest of us do. If you do right by me, i will do right by you. If not, I shake the dust from my shoes and move on.
I did not mean to hurt/ offend anyone. I am very sorry to those of you that got upset. Honestly, I mean it. Life is too short and if I can do anything to make it better I will, just let me know. Please accept my apology?
Oh, if I was racist I sure would not have the job I have.
Every night I pray that the evildoers would find the Lord, because if they knew Him they would not do the things that they are doing. (My religious belief, not intended to hurt anyone either)
I will watch the things that I post from here on out. I do not want to hurt anyone or make them feel "sad."
By the way, one of my close friends is black and I do have middle eastern friends.
    Many Apologies.

OK I went way too far in my last post.  I should have stuck with my first instinct, which was to not post at all.
My problem with this type of humor is that it perpetuates racism.  The fact is the organization responsible for the horrific events of 9/11 don't even wear turbans.  So this joke is not even aimed at the correct religion.  Also 9/11 was an act of a cowardous radical group and not a race or religion.  It is important we remember this.
Saltyfish and Craig I'm sorry for my harsh words above.

    sf922,

Please understand that there is NO NEED for you to apologise :) I have seen that link before and have also passed it on to people who I thought might enjoy the humour.

The 'problem' from my perspective is that 3reef has a great International exposure and isn't just a discussion board for any one country or religion. By it's nature 3reef is also one of the friendliest discussion boards you could ever find and has a certain 'quirkiness' about it due to the different people that 'live' here.

I have also posted ( what I thought ) were funny jokes that poked fun at a whole raft of different cultures and religions, and will probably continue to do so in the future.

However, I guess in the link that you posted I could see some danger in the subject matter becoming a very contentious and angry discussion, which in the end could only do harm to 3reef as a whole.
