Most know i have been complaining of brown algae.
I noticed i have blooms after water changes and it clears up just in time for another wc.

Research shows that its silicates being introduced which could be from salt or the water...i used distilled but I am going to shop around for ro water.

I got some chemi pure blue, hoping this will help with removing phos and silicates.

    Anyone use this product?

I use it as standard maintenance in my 135. While impossible to prove a negative I believe that it has helped me maintain a heavily stocked tank and grow numerous sps species.

That sounds positive. I like hearing the experiences others have with products

I like purigen better, or even chemi pure elite, over the blue.

Just switch from CP elite to blue. Haven't really noticed a difference but no negative effect either. From my understanding Blue has something similar to purigen in it. So instead of using Elite and purigen I now just have Blue. Cost saving at least.

I've used Blue and Elite, I think they are both good at what they are for. I cannot tell if I noticed a difference between the two, but I have had positive results from both.

Great, can't wait to try it.
Do you rinse it out weekly and how often is it best replaced?

I only rinsed my before putting into the system. I usually went the longer term of the time period...
Carbon will go first, the "blue" is nice cause you can watch and gage how the media is turning colors. However, I just used the time on the container for the time period, it wasn't exact, but close +/- a month...

4 months is a good amount of time for the product which i like.

    So you still use carbon?

I never ran any extra carbon when I was running chemipure. I have never run one thing 100% of the time on my tank, the closest would be a heater or skimmer.

Right now, I'm running carbon and GFO, but that's because I have 2 reactors now.
