Hi all. I just put a bag of chemipure in my 29 gallon aquarium, replacing the old cartridge filter. My question is this. The claims I have read about chemipure is that you don't have to do as frequent water changes with it, if your chemistry is all within normal parameters. Have others heard this or found this to be true with Chemipure? 3 days after adding this, my nitrates are 0ppm after 2 weeks without a water change. Any opinions out there?

I just put 2 bags into the sump flow of my 135 on Sunday and I'll tell ya, I haven't used this brand before, but the water has never been clearer! My toadstool and finger leather took a day to adjust, but they really look good today. Everything looks very happy, except for the gsp(my fault, stirred sand a little in front of them)

    Hello,
I have been using Chemipure and Chemipure Elite for nearly a month now, and I am glad to say that my phosphates are down to zero, much of the nuisance algae that was in the tank is fading away (except for the coralline), my water parameters are excellent (ammonia 0ppm, nitrites 0ppm, nitrates ~5ppm, ph 8.4, and phosphates 0), with crystal clear water. I have been continuing my water change regimen regardless of what the product claims, but I have been more than happy with the results. Before I started using Chemipure, my nitrates were around 10ppm, and phos was at least .5 I am now a firm believer in its' abilities, but I would continue to stick to a consistent water change regimen. Oh, yeah, I almost forgot, before I started using Chemipure I was constantly battling to keep my PH up (I was at 7.8-8.0), but within a few days of uing the product my PH was at a steady 8.4. I hope this helps you! Good luck to you

i think its just the same thing as activated charcoal just better. i suppose you don't need to do water changes if your tank is FO. but the corals still need the elements replaced with water changes.
edit: on second thought even the fish should probably get a water change even if its once every six months
