    You're bad bad bad!!!!

I have been seriously looking at Hyacinthus Acropora again. They have a lot of nice pieces of that particular Acropora and it did well in my tank last time.

Yeah, I just went through Diver's Den...hadn't looked in a couple of weeks. I'm upset now. Tons of nice pieces on there...so I can imagine the pieces that sold.

Isn't the red planet a hyacinthus?

No, there was an article on Reef Builders a while back, but I can not say with certainty.

I need to go back and look for a couple articles.

Hyacinthus does for sure come in a red variation, but not commonly. Hyacanthsus most commonly comes in a pale green to cream coloration. It's an absolutely wonderful coral though

RP is either a Millepora or Prostrata if I remember correctly. It's been so heavily aquacultured over the last decade that it's hard to nail down it's origins.

This was a piece of Hyacinthus when I got it:

And this a couple months later. It got greener as time went on.

The coral likes the most intense lighting and highest flow as evidenced by it's short and plating growth.

With all that said I could be entirely wrong.

An RP will grow up and branching and tolerate less than ideal conditions. IME a Hyacinthus does not tolerate much.

Grimguy used to have a very nice piece.

Wow Cheryl after going through 69 pages your tank has made a lot of progress! Are you still running bare bottom? I have been for years much to the dismay of my coworkers har har :) I do like the different colors the t-5s brought out compared to the halides. I noticed a big difference in colors when I switch from halides to leds. You do have a green thumb for corals, but you need some chalices in there ;)

    Thanks. ;D

You're right and that is the direction I am headed in, more LPS for sure.

I added sand and I probably added it too early, but I am glad I did. I have 2 fish and feed sparingly (no skimmer) so I was starving my corals basically.

    :)
