Yep, pretty cool. He has a nice acan and a favia waiting. We were recently at a swap in Chicago, and he bought an orange Leptoseris from Jason Fox. He was super excited about it.

That must be really rewarding for you Jerry. It's nice to share that stuff with family.

Here is the piece. Thought in the store it might have been a Milleopora, now I do not think so. Needs to color up badly and dang it I hope it was not a wild pieces BECAUSE there is an acro crab in it. Very cool but makes me think it was a wild pieces.

That's a good size. It'll be interesting to see what develops!

Nice piece, why not remove the crab? The kind that always came in on my maricultured pieces ended up being detrimental, so i usually had to remove.

Actually I really like acropora crabs, had several prior to treating with Interceptor.

This one looks very much like my others so I am not worried about him harming the coral. It was a nice surprise to find him there.

You're right it could very well be a maricultured piece had not thought of that.

If I do not see any improvement in PE in the coming days I might think about removing him, sure do not want to though.

I know exactly what you mean, i never wanted to remove my crabs from pieces, as relationships like that in a tank are extremely cool, but in the end, my colonies weren't big enough to support the destructive behavior of feed on polyps. I'll see if i can find a pic of one of mine:

Now see I would never trust any crab with black tipped claws or furry ones. It might all be myth but I have had bad look with them.

Here is an image of the type I have, the new one looks exactly like that. I believe this type actually eats the mucous or detritus trapped within the mucous.

oh (and I'm sure you already know) those are the good ones that clear the coral of debris and actually enhance the health of the coral IMO. plus these crabs come in an array of colors and patterns. Unfortunately at my LFS maricultured colonies usually have a blue eyed, black clawed coral menace on them.

And honestly the black tipped ones are good if the colony is large enough to support the crabs destructive behavior, they also clear debris and are rumored to pic on AEFM. mine would eat the polyps on the side of the coral that wasn't getting light, so not hindering the coral as much as it could have.
