Humm chillers are a funny thing I have one now a 2 Hp and it was sent to me for repairs after the guy took it for money owed him I hear that was the deal ? But It took 200.00 for me to repair it for him . It was a mess I have a new coralife one also now brand new out of the box used 1 weekend dead !
Compressor is locked up tight as a drum. Have to send it back for the guy to see if they will do anything with it under warranty ? The LFS did nothing but say it should be working LOL . But its way pass a bad capacitor a simple relay .. Buyer beware .

What I'd ask is what size tank is it going on ? where will it be located and the average ambient surrounding temperature of the chiller space and why is he selling it so cheap only after a few months of use ? Chiller repairs are never cheap is possible ? Some are just not worth the parts or labor. See it working and size it to fit your tank

Thanks for the reply Tangster :)

It was used on a 72 gallon bow front tank (which i purchased from him already last week and just finished drilling it last night). Apparently the reasons he has been getting rid of everything for cheap are:

    1) He had the tank set up for around six months and had to go out of town for a week. During which time he had a girl he knew dose the tank with calcium and feed the fish. She ended up putting too much calcium in the tank and when he returned from the trip everything was a big smelly mess. All his coral and livestock were dead. He ended up lossing a lot of money and became very dessapointed so he didn't set the tank back up.

    2) He is now trying to move to a new home and doesnt want to have to take everything with him and find a place to store them.

I ended up buying the 72 Gallon bow, stand that i think is made by oceanic (has a glass door infront and and has a bruched aluminum look on the rest of it), a matching canopy, overflow (which i am not going to use since i drilled the tank), 2 sumps, and some pieces of no longer live rock for $200.

I will have to go check it out and see how well it is working. Since he no longer has a tank to see it working on are there any specific tests i can do to make sure it is in good shape?

you can use a bucket of warm water and a pump. pump out of the bucket, through the chiller, and back into the bucket
