a 1/4 Horse on a 180 is about past its ability when brand new and as close to perfect as it can get .. Is the air flow in and out unobstructed ? has the barrel ever been acid flushed ? they will build up with Calcium and carbonates and they can not extract and exchange heat fast enough. Chillers like A/C do not cool the air.. like ice i a drink they remove the heat and absents of heat mean cool. Slow the flow first see what that does if it makes a difference then the barrel is scaled over.. if not then there is something else .. But if you takes some type of cleaner spray the coil up front the one that gets hot then hose it out well that will also allow for more heat exchange . Like a a/c they need to be serviced on a regular basis .. Also further it is from the tank the better it will do and check the controller you using the remote Ranco type on it ? controller plugs into wall then chiller plugs into that.. also looks at the condenser fan blades and see that they are really clean and that little motor is not in need of oiling ? they have 2 little ports freon and rear ..and R-12 is more expensive then the unit is worth if you ever need gas toss it..

all my equipment in a closet the chiller is set to 79 degrees I keep my ac on @ 77 degrees the chiller runs for 1 hr 1/2 then off for about two or more hours. 125 gallon tank pump in sump to chiller up to refugium then gravity fed to sump. on the chiller there is a 6" fan attached to dryer vent to exhaust heat into attic and keep the room cool. that helps a lot. if the chiller is under the tank or in the same room as equipment the heat from the chiller will work against you imo.
