Ok guys and gals. Coming into my first fall season with the tank. Last year I just needed the heater. In the summer I unplugged the heater and added the chiller. In Houston's fall season, our temps can vary from winter to summer, back and forth at any given time. How do I keep the heater and chiller active at the same time. The chiller does not have a heater controller built in. The heater has its own thermostat, but the water still fluctuated quite a bit. A real PITA to get it right. I thought about a matching JBJ heater controller, but that still brings the issue of them battling each other. Any suggestions on a product?? I like to keep the tank within 1 degree.

You've gat a nice tank and plenty of gear. Have you considered getting a new toy like a Controller? It's not cheap but you could get a Reef Keeper or something along thow lines (Profilux?) and use it for really great control over your chiller, heaters, lights, and other gear. I'm pretty sure that you can get even tighter control over your tank temperature than +/- 1 deg.

Same as GoToSleep.... I run my chiller and heater off a controller so I keep the tank within 0.8 degrees. I don't like the water to change that much. If you let it get too warm then the chiller will run a long time so I keep mine really tight. Less stress on the livestock.
