Ok I upgraded my Hood on my Nano 24g and it is running hot. Only going to get worse in the summer. Looks like I am going to need a chiller. I am looking for a good decent one that isnt' going to break the bank. Need it to be able to handle the 24g tank size.

any help would be greatly appreciated.

What lights are you running? Cooling fans on the light not working?

-150W HQI hood with 14K bulb
    -4 Cooling Fans

Fans appear to be working correctly but my water temp is getting to around 80.9 to 81. and its cool in my house right now. So in the summer I will have some issues.

u can try raising your lights higher off the tank or even try adding a stronger cooling fan. turn your heater down and see if that all helps as well... where is your tank in regards to your heat ducts.

I know thats part of the issue cause the hood fits flush on the tank. So it sits on hinges. Not sure how to raise it off the tank. I am regreting upgrading my lighting seems like nothing is happy in my tank.

I wanted to get some sps corals and stuff that is why I upgraded. I was going to upgrade the fans but for the cost thought I could pick up a chiller instead. I don't have Central Air in my house and in the summer It does get warm in here. I have a window units but just not sure it will be enough. My tank is no where near the heat in my house.

Does your hood have openings to let air in? You can hook a small fan up to blow across the water, but you will have more evaporation. Or if its hot below your tank you can add vents to help cool.

Has vents and a feeding opening. I leave that open all day. Right now it is at 80.6 have the digi thermometer down about half way in the water. A fan upgrade on the hood is about 65 bucks so i thought for about double i would opt for the chiller. Makin me stressed..

If you can get a chiller for under a few hundred than I say its worth it in the long run. If you post where you live than people can look on craigslist for you. I looked for Robman and there wasnt anything in Tampa. I bought both mine new. I know my buddy had a few that were old and noisy.
