    hey everyone,

i'm not sure this ? is in the right catagory but here it goes.i am contemplating the purchase of a chiller. i would like to place it down stairs. the in line chiller requires a return pump (i'm guessing). they need a minimum ghm. i was going to use a magdrive. i'm about ten feet from the sump. would this work to have the chiller that far away?:-/

You need to calculate the total distance of the pipe run to and from the chiller and then size the pump to that. If it is a inline chiller then just run your return from the sump though it and back to the display tank.

Also to add to what Otty said the H.P of the chiller and average ambient temps of the air moving over the chillers Condenser coil / plus the heat rise and volume of the water to be chilled will dictate the size chiller needed and the amount of water that is flowed through the chiller .. But you can can just get a large unit to be sure But chillers are very inefficient and rather expensive to operate .
