The Meds screwed me up, gave me nightmares and just threw me off, I finally decided enough is enough, its great I am no longer a pack a-day smoker, with that said I do enjoy occasional Cigar, I used a E-cig off an on to curb the random cravings 4-8months into it but I got out of the marine corps aug 2010 and have not smoked a pack since.

AGHHHH!!! WTHeck is THAT thing??? Tornado TANK is right!!! WOW! It's huge!!!
And you have to mix all that stuff! Yuck! I'm so glad mine was all in the little filter cartridge!!! It was the same size as a filter on a cig & just screw it on the battery! Very slim & light!
Might want to look at the simple premiumecig. VERY easy to carry around, charge & use anywhere.
I used mine more than a baby sucks on a pacifier!!!
    It WAS my pacifier!!!
I swear I smoked more on the ecig than I ever did real cigs just cause I was SO paranoid of not having a cig for the 1st few weeks to a month! lol

I feel you man. I've been smoking since I was 16 and I'm really feeling the effects now. I DON'T want to quit but I know I should or I need to. I just keep telling myself that I will quit...soon =/. The irony of it all is that my dad was a smoker for 25 yrs and quit, but now has a whole cocktail of health issues and it hasn't phased me yet. I just say "oh, I'm still young and if I quit in the next few years I'll be ok"....Yeah right.:-/

I totally agree. I don't want to quit, but I know I need to. I mean you can start chewing nicorrete or ask your doc to prescribe you meds. But I feel that if you don't REALLY want to quit than ultimately you get addicted to gum or meds. :-[

I have been smoking for one and off for the last 16 years..I have quit many times and hopefully this will be the last time I quit. I kinda quit cold turkey 2 weeks ago and havent had a cigeratte since. I got sick and didnt want to smoke so I just keep going with not smoking. I will say its awesome to have that extra cash in my pocket!
I wont lie there have been many times that I get the craving to smoke but I must force myself. the cravings go away the more I stay away from it. To add to that, I am getting back into soccer and can already tell the difference in my running..what a difference!

+1000000 to the wanting to quit. You need an absolute reason to quit. Knowing about the health risks and knowing that you need to quit will only get you so far because it is easy to rationalize around it...whats 1 more pack going to hurt? I will just quit tomorrow.

You need to really want to quit.

For me it was the birth of my twins. I smoked for over 10 years and I probably tried to quit several dozen times, always with the same result. I struggled so hard to quit prior to their birth, but as soon as I saw them I knew I had to stop smoking and I wanted to do it for them. I haven't had a cigarette in 5 years. I now absolutely hate the smell of smoke, can't stand it, I feel nauseous when I walk through a group of people smoking outside. Amazingly though, when I go out to a bar with a group of people I automatically have a HUGE craving for a cigarette, especially after my 2nd/3rd pint. The social/physical aspect still gets to me to this day.

    My advice is:

1)put the money in a jar and use it to buy yourself a present every month for a year.
2)never bend the rules, cold turkey is a must, if you convince yourself that you can have 1-2 cigarettes a day, you will fail.
3)remember that idle hands will want to reach for a cigarette, so keep yourself busy
4)if you get a craving, distract yourself with something fun, the craving WILL pass
5)constantly remind yourself about the good that you are doing to your body
    6)do some daily excercise
7)think about the times and places that make you crave cigarettes, if you limit the time spent in these environments you will have more chances to be successful...it sucks but it is worth it in the end. I stopped going out with my friends to bars because I knew I would cave to the crave.

The fact is that quitting is a life style change which is one of the reasons it is soooo hard to do. And possibly why there are alot of people that use the birth of a child as the impetus to quit...because inevitably your lifestyle changes drastically.

    Good Luck!

    +1 for good advice!

I know someone that did the jar thing and bought themselves a jet ski at the end of the year. LOL. I promised that I would quit by the time I transfer to a 4 yr university(September) but I haven't really made a move yet =[. And I agree with keeping busy. Sometimes at work when its slow at the office I'll just end up chain smoking which is terrible. But when it is non-stop busy I notice that I would have smoked less than half a pack. Hopefully soon..

Wow I forgot I started this thread! Thanks to everyone for their stories and tips! K+

Tharsis everything you said made sense to me! I've been "quitting tomorrow" for a few weeks now. Maybe I need to make some babies lol! Seriously though thanks for all the advice!

Anldyxp I agree with keeping busy and finding other things to do when cravings hit. I'll go 8 hours during the day only smoking on lunch break b/c Ohio has a no smoking law inside buildings. Then when I deliver pizzas at night I'll smoke like crazy just b/c I'm in my car the whole time.
