So I am putting a few peppermint shrimp in my fuge today... I am doing this so they canreproduce and release their eggs into my water column (free plankton) however, they peppermint shrimp can feed on amphipods. My amphipods population has always been extremely high, however I'm afraid the pepps will really take a toll on the population.
On the flip side, the increase in natural plankton will lead to an increase in Copepods, which are amphipod food... What do you guys think? Will it eventually even out or is the population of something going to suffer?

I dunno. But if you're concerned about it, I would just make an area out of eggcrate that the shrimp can't get to.

I'm not sure eggcrate can stop a peppermint shrimp... but a pile of large diameter crushed coral could support amphipoods without pepps getting their greedy little pinchers in there... or you could go with a ball of cheato.

zip tie two crate sheets together and offset them so the holes are smaller.
