So I moved my clam on the sand but it ends up on its side where it won't face the light. Any suggestions to keep it right side up?

So like get a small rock and wait for the byssal threads to attach?

Mine loved to tip over, I put some rock rubble on mine to where it can lean up against the rock and also under the byssal threads so it can attach.

Maxima's like to be placed in the rock work not on the sandy bottom.

Placing two rocks between the shells should help stabilize until the byssal threads are able to attach. Fisherman is correct that small Maxima's generally do not like sandy bottoms.

Deresas and gigas are the two giant clams that are commonly found in the sand, but deresas are also found in rocks.. Croceas and maximas are rock boring clams and when found in nature they are actually bored into the rock or crevice. Squamosas are also typically found in rock crevices...

put something flat for it to put its foot on and once it gets a hold then you can put it where ever and cover the piece with sand so all you see is the clam! works everytime for me so far :)
