I am hoping that someone can recommend a clam and a place to purchase it. I am wanting to add a clam to my tank. I would like one that is colorful but I also want one that will stay small in size since my tank is a 55 gallon.

but isn't that the way its supposed to be. one of us look for something and the others start wanting it too.... I am hoping to know what I want in the next week to 10 days so then I can either pick one up if I find it locally, or order it.

How much T5 is over your 55, how old is the tank, and what are your params at?

me too, I want to make sure I know exactly what I am in for before getting one.

I saw the one on here that someone had and it was huge. I definately don't want something that will get that big.

Most blue ones are maximas or croceas. Of all the tridacna clams, the maximas stay the smallest, but they get to be pretty big. That should not be an issue as you can always sell a large clam for a lot more than a smaller one.

What fixture or retrofit do you have?

Other way around. Crocea clams are the smallest, with a maximum size of around 6", while maxima clams can grow to well over 18".
Puffer Chick, you could probably keep one with the lighting, but have a long way to go yet until your tank is mature enough.
Catz, what is your lighting situation?
