Does anyone have a suggestion on what clean up crew I should get for my 110 gal FOWLR system? Where should I purchase them?

    Thanks for your help.

I would go with a bunch of snails, i like to limit the number of hermit crabs, as they may kill a snail for its shell. Astrea snails and turbo snails are great for algae and will keep your glass and rocks clean. Nassarius snails will keep the sand stirred up and eat detritus and excess food. Then you have blue and red legged hermit crabs, good for algae and detritus. Look at the sponsers page to see websites that sell clean up crews, there are some good deals on them

Right now I have crushed coral instead of sand. Will this change my clean up crew? I am going to try to switch from CC to sand, but I have to figure out how to do it.

How big is the CC, rough diameter? If it is more like gravel. then i wouldn't go with the nassarius because they like to burrow in the sand. The other snails and crabs should be fine

I can give you some advice on the switch if you like. I did the same thing a couple of years ago and it made a world of difference in my tank.
    1. Grab several rubbermaids
    2. Fill one of these up with tank water (if you can catch fish this is a good time to place fish in there.
    3. Put tank water in another rubbermaid.
    4. Start placing LR in this one
    5. repeat steps 3 and 4 untill you are about 2 inches above the CC bed.
    6. Get shop vac (or dust pan) and dig out all of the crushed coral. (shop vac is easier for obvious reasons)
    7. Clean and scrub tank, place sand in, and refill with the water you saved in rubber maids. (it's a good idea to have plenty of make up water ready because you will lose alot in the process.)

Go to reefcleaners.org. They sponsor the website and will give you a personalized setup and sell you the cleaning crew too.

Might also want to look at GARF. They throw in a few freebies and the service is great. They'll put together a package for you.

your welcome. I'm having a hard time finding some sort of pet store with a specialty in reefs. Do you know anywhere or are you buying online like me?
