I'm a newb too. I'm in the same boat as you and wonder if I should have more in my 28g. I have:

    5 Blue Leg Hermits
    1 Peppermint Shrimp
    1 Emerald Crab
    2 Turbo Snails

I would like to get a few more Hermits and a couple of Margarita Snails and/or Star or Astrea Snails.

    Happy Tanking!

you will want a load of snails king. a general rule of thumb, is 1 piece of CUC per gallon.

I thought bout getting some snails. but LFS guy said, that if my tank was only 2 weeks old, I don't have enough algae yet.
so I just got stuff that eats leftover food i guess :-/

only 2 weeks old? did you cycle your tank? and also your sand sifter wont have enough food to eat. they need an established tank filled with detritus and food along that nature

I used smartstart to cycle, 40lb live sand, 30lb live rock.

When i feed my clown some food gos down to the sand, so I thought i would get some sort of clean up crew to eat leftover food.

all in all cuc was only $20.00 today

did you test or get your water tested to make sure did cycle? in my opinion, your tank isnt established enough for the sand sifter. and when you start to get yoyur algae buildup, get more CUC , namely snails.

It's also far too small. AZDR mentioned that he had one that starved in a 100+ gallon tank with 300+ pounds of sand in a very deep sand bed.

Think the LFS will take him back ? or what if he dies in the tank, because he just sifted to the bottom of the sand :(

I do have a master salt water test kit, but it just always looks the same. tested almost every day sense i started the tank. smart start bottle says tank will never reach toxic levels with this product. and can put fish in 48 hours later.
