So I have a shrimp killer aka my marine betta. So I am stuck with getting a cleaner fish suggestions? I think a neon goby might be to small, so I'm thinking bout cleaner wrasse but read they r hard to keep alive. Anyone currently have one and how long if so what do u feed it? Since I have only the 8 fish and 3 are tangs is that enough fish to keep the cleaner wrasse alive? If not suggestions on food.
    Thanks

Usually, cleaner wrasses won't eat anything other than parasites. You might be able to get them to start eating foods, but that's fairly unlikely as I understand it.

I think the goby would get eaten too. They're a bit easier, since they're not really obligate cleaners like the wrasses are.

Perhaps I just got lucky, but my cleaner wrasse took to frozen food right away. He's been happy and healthy for over 3 years. I will note that he only eats finely-chopped squid from the mix I feed my tank.

    Cheers

Most cleaner wrasses starve quickly in the home aquarium, even those eating prepared foods *can* starve because they are missing their main diet: parasites. I have a neon goby that does a great job of cleaning. He is busy all day long, and eats prepared foods like crazy. If your tangs are well fed, I don't see them eating the goby, though it does happen. None of my fish try to eat my neon goby.

I dont see any of the neon gobies working out for that. Just cause of the beta. there are a few other wrasses that do eat parasites off fish that arent persay cleaner wrasses. But there isnt a 100% chance it will even do it. same with the neon gobies.

Be for warned. Sometimes Cleaner Wrasses eat or pick at clams. Just an FYI :)... Not sure if you have to worry about that.

No I only got power compacts can't support clams. The beta hides a lot but as long as I got it no shrimp.
