Cleaner shrimp is houdini

    So my cleaner shrimp molted or something last night and it tripped me out because his old skin is haning upside down from where he norally hangs.....Can i remove it or is there something i dont know. I thought I was seeing doubles...Howd he do this???
    Heres a pic. His shell is just hanging out upside down. Howd he get out without making it fall?????

    my peppermint sheds itself , I woke up one morning and found a clear peppermint shrimp sitting on a rock . Looked all there , but when I nudge it with a poker it just floated away . Its amazing how they do this with out ruining the outer shell or skin . I did remove mine but cant see it hurting anything if you did leave it .

    I leave mine in...other things will eat it. Will not pollute your water either if they dont. The shell has good nutrients in it,

    I know when my peacock mantis sheds he eats it to get the nutrients that are needed for the next molt

    Absolutely normal and a good sign. Somebody will eventually eat the old shell. Leave it in.

    Damn, i wish i got all of the "leave it in" responsesw before I sent it off to the ocean down a tube haha.
    Crap, oh well, next time...

    How often to the cleaner shrimp molt like that? Anyone know?

    not sure how often. mine seem to molt in caves where it's unlikely I'll see the shell. Maybe every month or two. Mythrax crabs molt too.
