I use a paper towel wet with water, wipe the tank, then dry with a squeegee. Works great and no danger of chemical contamination.

Yeah why bother possibly contaminating your tank. I use a clean never used before spray bottle filled with water and a squeege that I only use for the outside of my tanks. Works well.

If you must use windex, always spray the paper towel away from the tank and then apply the paper towel to the tank.

use can also use vinegar sprayed on the papertowel as well and vinegar streaks less than windex. I would never suggest spraying any chemicals near your tank as it can get in there.

just use a damp towel with RO or distilled water on the tank and then wipe clean with a dry towel....works for me everytime. you could use chemicals in a safe manner, but why take the chance?

    DO NOT EVER USE WINDEX!!

Use a damp fresh water cloth to wipe down your tank. If water spots are present then you can add vinegar to lower the hardness.

I always used windex- I guess I'm guilty but I never let it go near my inhabitants- I will try the vineger thing. One word of advice I have seen retail stores ruin thier glass doors and windows by repeatedly wiping with paper towels , they are abrasive and over time will do damage.
