    wow i just changed my gfo for the first time and it was the worst job i have seen to date, i have the 2 little fishes phosban reactor can someone tell me an easy way to change gfo in it:angry:

    I dump it, rise the sponges well then soak everything in straight distilled white vinegar until they are clean then start over with 5 grams of GFO per every 10 gallons of tank water. I leave it in the laundry sink with a small powerhead in a 1 gal bucket of water and runing to waste until the ferric dust clears then reinstall it in the sump.

    ^ Yup, it should be that simple.

    What made the job so terrible for you? If it had turned into a brick, you either have too little flow or your overdosing Alk.

    ths guys, i got the old gfo everywhere and the sink i was using was to small, i quess next time i'm gonna go to the yard and use a hose to rinse it out i felt like a rookie or something, wow i really made a mess;D
