All I'd ask is WHY ? pita to have to deal with very very very old school We come a long ways over the last 40 plus yrs in the hobby .. Did you get it yet and trying to get it running or just waiting for it to arrive ? You know they have and My Co. makes a simple coil that requires just a siphon line to do the same thing with none of the worries ? and problems of degassing the gasses from this one and never the rotten egg smell ? If you can I'd cancel the order .. The unit that uses Sugar is a better product then this one.. But if you are stuck with it I'll walk you through the set up , operation and maintaining of it .. Just P/M me for help..

i have heard of the coil thing - butall idid was browse ebay to see what was on offer. I asked the question about needing a controller for this device and i was assured that i didnt and i would not get the egg smell as it would be neutralised by the hydrocarbon in the filter - i have already received this item and if possible yes i would like some help setting it up as no instructions came with it

What size is the tankthis is going to be used on ? Was it charged and ready to use when you received it ? Should be a package of sulfur chips and some type or reactor carbonate material or simple dolomite ? then you either have to force feed it via a pump or a siphon from tank to sump. with these pump feed is better.. It takes a bit to cure and cycle it.. Did they send you any set up info for drip/flow rates ? I'd try to also pass all the outlet water over a cup of carbon and air stone to release any sulfur dioxide from the water.. As it can react with water to make sulfuric acid rather quickly

Carbon ??? That should not be in the reactor you need to add a source of carbonates there to neutralize the acids and some order then a separate cup with carbon and a air stone the line that runs to the bottom of the reactor is the inlet from tank the one at the very top is outlet to tank..Charge it and set the flow at a slow trickle . I did not even know these where still being sold ? The units that need a carbon source of food is far far better.. and safer and easier to use also . I'm a simple old coil guy myself.. set and for get.

Post some pictures and get a few good close shots of the little fittings for the in and out water and the entire empty cylinder if you can.i
