Hey guys, I was wondering what could cause my tank to have cloudy water? I have added an air line about 24 hours ago just in case it was a bacterial bloom, and I read that would clear it up if so. The parameters are Ammonia 0.0/Nitrite 0.0/Nitrate 20/PH 82/Salinity 1.025

I was waiting to do a water change until I knew if it was a bacterial bloom. I did add 2 fish and a shrimp to my tank just over a week ago and the water turned cloudy around monday. I add some CuC yesterday, but the tank was cloudy before that.

Anyone have any ideas? My powerheads are not aimed toward the sand or anything either.

What kind of cloudy? Like when you first added sand, or more like micro bubbles everywhere? If you added any equipment lately, that might be the cause, if there's any air getting into certain equipment

do you have a picture? Any ideas on what may have caused a bacterial bloom? I usually suggest adding carbon for cloudy water but that wouldn't necessarily take care of it depending on what it is.....

I tried to get you guys a picture but it came out to dark....

It is not micro bubbles. I see particles floating in the water column. I do not have a protein skimmer yet, and all that is going is my HOB filter, and 2 800 gph powerheads.

I currently do not have access to a Carbon Reactor. I may buy one in the near future, but I don't have a place to put one yet..

I've found over the years that anything "weird" is usually fixed by running fluidized carbon. From cloudy water to phyto blooms to my zoas not fully opening, Its nice to be able to turn it on and water it get better the next day.

I seldom run carbon, but with a Maxijet and a single BRS reactor its a cheap safe solution to most weird things. I bet it has to do with your bad CuC order.

The CuC came in after the cloudy water. I just happened to mention both today. I have been hoping that the HOB with Carbon Filter would clear it up.

I may need to replace the filter. It has been almost a month.
