Last night, right before the lights went off, everything looked great. (The only thing we've noticed is the xenia stopped pulsing about a week ago). When the lights came on this afternoon, the water was very cloudy - sort of a whitish fog. The corals & the fish do not appear to be stressed - I think I'm the only one that is ;)

    Params:
    NH4 - 0
    NO2 - 0
    NO3 - 25
    PO4 - 0
    Ca - 350
    pH - 8.0 - 8.1
    dkh - 11.5
    Mg - 1280
    Temp - 77.5

We did about a 15% water change this afternoon.
We run the lights about 8 hours per day. Feed 2x per week - mysis shrimp or pellets, scallops, marine snow, and phycopure.

Any ideas what may be causing this? I'm afraid that if it does not clear up, it may hurt the corals and the fish.

    Thanks for your help!

Hmmm. Did you happen to dose anything that day? The first thing that came to mind is that maybe you had gotten the ca/mg/dkh balances out of whack and it caused ca precipitation, then balanced itself out by the time you tested.
What exactly is in the marine snow and phycopure? Is it making the skimmer go crazy?

Also a possible bacteria bloom. I've never had that happen before, but there was a very recent thread on someone having a similar experience. I think it was KOgle.

Thanks PL - Marine snow is phytoplankton for corals & phycopure is algae for the clam - I did add these to the tank last night. I was careful to follow the directions so I didn't put in too much.

Thanks Jwin - the guy at the lfs mentioned that it could be an algae bloom - it seems like it happened too quickly, though.

Well, your numbers look ok, and if everyone seems happy i would just try to wait it out. I would definitley hold back on the water changes unless something else happens

Thanks PL - It's hard to sit & wait! The guy at the lfs offered to loan us a UV sterilizer if things don't get better by Friday.

Curious, why hold off on any more water changes?
