dunno about your water but a word about your new goby.. Ive had mine for three months and he was great.. full of life and made and shared a little cubby home with my firegoby.. i realized yesterday i hadnt seen him all day.. turns out he jumped through a 2 inch gap through my glass lid and flew about two feet away.. i found him all dried up and was heartbroken.. trust me, if you dont have a lid on your tank, your goby will go carpet surfing, its only a matter of time..

PH means nothing and to have it at 7.9 or 7.8 in the early A.M is perfectly normal Put the PH test kit away and leave it be for a few days and allow it to settle down.. If you cleaned the filter and it got cloudy its a bacterial bloom. But for get about P.H test the alk or DKH all the same thing just different way to test. Adding buffer will keep them cloudy also..
