    Hi,

I have had my juvenile pair of black and white clowns since June and they have just started fighting. When I got them they were together as a mated pair. One has made the other stick to the bottom of the tank and they nip at each other head on. Sometimes one or the other goes on its side and had a little fit. Is this where sex is being established or mating?

    Cheers

Sounds like they are establishing dominance. The dominate one will turn female. Keep an eye on them and make sure they don't get injured too bad.

Are they about the same size or is one bigger than the other? If they were junivile when you bought them, they were just two fish put togther and not a mated pair.

They are roughly the same size. The fighting is not so bad now as one is more or less doing as its told!

give it time - one may die if they r rly fighting. my angelfish did the same thing. for a solid week they fought really aggressively then one morning they were laying eggs and fertilizing them. fought 2 more days afterwards while guarding eggs, now eggs all gone and they're best friends again :)
hope you the best of luck.

    An update to this thread:

One of the clowns now spends most of the time on the bottom and it's colour is not a vibrant as usual and the lips are whiteish where as the other clown is a very healthy black and white, is this normal?

I would say this isn't normal at all. I would be worried. I suggest that you PM a member Pickle010. He should be able to help you out. Good luck to you.
