Are Percula Clown Fish saltwater or freshwater fish? And would they do good with Tiger Barbs and Chiclids? I really want to get one.

    Really?

They will not do well with either, as they are a marine fish

You know, I remember from my college chemistry class professor saying that you might be able to make a saltwater fish into a fresh and vice versa. Now I'm not saying I agree with this theory, and I would DEFINENTLY NOT TRY THIS AT HOME!

But anyways, he was saying that if you made adjustments gradually over a long period of time it might be possible. Like raising the level up very smally and for an extended period of time. And for salt water dropping the salinity little by little, not too much to put it into shock. he was saying if given enough time it could adapt, kind of like darwins natural selection process

Of course, i would never try this, and dont know if anybody has, I wouldnt recommend it.

Anyways as stated before, clowns are saltwater fish

You can make Mollies into SW fish fairly easily but you cant easily make a clown into a FW fish!

I don't want one THAT bad. But that would be cool. What about Tetras? Sorry about all the questions, I'm a newb. I just upgraded from a 10 gallon to a 15, and now I have some more room to work with, so I'd like to add more color. Thanks for all the help.

Before you start a saltwater please do a lot of reading, its a lot different from Fresh water.
Amazon . com has all sorts of great books to read on beginer saltwater aquariums.

And please come here and ask questions before doing something, thats why were all here, we enjoy helping YOU get into this hobby successfully. Keep in mind this hobby does cost A LOT more than the freshwater hobby.

Lighting alone cost big $$$ Never skimp on the equipment needed to run a well oiled indoor ecosystem.

Hope to hear more from you.

Well I just got back from the pet store, I picked up a Blushing Albino Tiger Barb, another Cichlid and a Black Plati. They all seem to be doing just fine, even the Barb who swam into the claws of Crawfish as soon as I set him in. I'm definitely going to learn a lot more before I get a saltwater tank, if I even decide to go in that direction. Anyways thanks for the help.
