i'm gettin a pair of false percs tomorrow and was wonderin if there is any need to get them somethin to host....i don't have the lighting neccessary, nor do i really want, anemones and don't have any coral yet, but have seen clowns in flowerpots. Do i need somethin in my tank for them to host, they're a tank raised pair and i only have a yellow tang and damsel in my 55 gal so there's plenty of room....oh and i know tang will eventually outgrow the tank, he was a gift n i'll give him up when its time....thanks

They dont need something to host... do you plan on keeping coral or have coral?
They will host some corals (hammers, frogspawn, anthelia) too

They will host powerheads, live rock, substrate, their reflection :p, or a corner of the tank. No need at all.

Mine host an inset in my LR.

Mine hosts the overflow box. Seems pretty glad to have it around.

My clown is 5+ years old and has never had an anemone or coral to host. I second Peredhil, mine loves the return flow area and aquascapes the sand in that area to suite her.
From this forum i have learned:
    1. Clowns dont live longer when hosting an anemone or appear happier (so dont feel bad like i used to)
    2. Hosting an anemone might look cool but it will encourage territorial behavior from the clown and this might be a problem in a small/medium tank.
    3. Anemomes are not necessarily a beginner coral, toxic when dead and have a high mortality rate
    4. If u really want them to host something than its possible they will host hammers, frogspawn, anthelia and some others. Perhaps a better option to avoid issues with keeping an anemone.

    Happy reefing :)
