Ive had a sebae anemone in my tank for about 5 months now and she looking great! but ive been noticing for the course of about a month, my misbar clown hovering over it at night and gets extremely close to it (an inch from touching it and then slowly swims up and continues to "hover")

Is this a clear sign of hosting?...

And my other questions would be, is it normal that he only does it with the lights off?

As soon as the lights come on its like if he doesn't even know its there :-/

I would have to say no, can it change sure.

My clowns have shown the exact behavior to both LPS and anemones and never resided in either or did so just briefly.

Have you tired other methods to encourage the clowns to reside in the anemone? Target feeding anemone will sometimes work, picture of anemone hosting clowns tapped to the side of the tank may work.

    Is this a B/W misbar?

Picture does not always work but it has most definitely worked for others.

A clown has to develop the mucous coating that prevents the anemone from firing it's nematocycts. Without the coating a clown is just another fish that will fall victim to the sting of the anemone.

I have had clowns that swam directly into an anemone type they were not acclimated to and be eaten just like any other fish.
