I have a pair of black and white clowns. I was just watching my clowns fight. It started with the male doing some crazy twitching and either nipping or poking at the female which made her go on her side, they got over it and swam away from each other. Then the female went and did this to the male and even more twitching and poking/nipping was going on. They both just got over a ton of scratches and are both doing much better, so i'm not sure if them felling better is making them more fiesty towards one another? Or if this is a sign of mating. They are the only ones in the tank, and i bought them as an established pair, and did't notice any real fighting going on before, except for a few pokes, so this is the most that i've seen them fight.

Sometimes an established pair will fight a little, just like a married couple, so they keep the pecking order in place.

Yeah, I hear ya. My wallet's a little restricting at the time also. Just keep an eye on the clowns and if the fighting starts to get out of hand then maybe some other form of action might be needed.

my paired black clown do the same thing! they twitch and nip at each other. I thought it was bad at first but i think its just a way of playing! I have an engineer goby in the tank with them and they dont bother each other at all> so maybe consider this fish.

the clowns are not fighting today, i'm hoping they have gotten over all their fighting from yesterday, as it was starting to get pretty bad in there
