I have a single clown fish in my tank. Today I noticed him at the lower left corner of my tank and speradicaly jerking or spasming. I have heard that they do this when another Clownfish is in the tank but this is the only one I have.

I decided to try and feed my fish and he came up and was going crazy for food. Could I have been feeding to little? I feed Formula 2 pellet food once a day, and I feed a 3 or 4 pinches of it. It sinks kind of fast so I try and put enough in the tank that it gets eaten before it makes it to the bottom of the tank. I also feed a frozen food that is a variety for Omnivores, I can not remember the name right now. I feed it every other day about 1/4 of a cube. Should I be feeding them more often?

After I fed them the clown fish seemed to quick jerking around, but it has me a bit worried. Anyone have any info they can help me with?

I have a Dottyback that feeds near the middle and bottom of the tank and a Damsel that feeds at the top of the tank. The Clownfish is at the top feeding beside the Damsel.

For very young clowns I like to feed less more often, small amount twice a day. In an established tank you'd be surprised at the amount of pods an adult clown will eat. Try feeding just a little more.

The clown's spasm behavior could be a result of the clown see her reflection in the glass.

It all sounds normal, but I have seen a rare condition where clowns will spin and it gets progressively worse, you'll know that one if you see it.

I was thinking that maybe he was changing to female. Not sure on this one.

A lone clown always becomes a female within a couple months. Just assume the clown is a female. Young clowns that are neither the dominate male or the dominate female are all sexually immature. The clown becomes sexually mature when of top spots, the dominate male or female spot opens up.

Normal behavior. My clowns did this a while back. Now just the male does.
