no go on the morning feeding, they raced up to the top to look at what it was, and one of them actually even took a flake in its mouth but spit it out. Looks like I need some form of frozen.

Which is better mysis or brine? also keep in mind my LFS doesn't have the greatest selection, is there something I can try in the mean time if for some reason they don't have either?

I fed them some frozen mysis shrimp today. I am a little happy and disapointed at the same time. they got very interested and consumed a very small amount. about 75% of what they attempted to eat they spit out. not once did they attempt to eat any shrimp that was even half the size of a whole one. They only nipped at some of the random pulp peices although like I said earlier they would spit 75% of those out. Can this be considered normal behavior?

Yes it is normal. How large are they? I only mention this as mine were only half an inch long when I got them and it too took a while before they could eat. I actually had to mince the mysis up with a knife to get the pieces small enough for them and then I had to make sure to place the food in an area it would reach them. Clowns are territorial and may not necessarily chase the food all over the tank so if large pieces can not be grabbed right away it may literally get away.

Incidentally, Cyclop eeze is also a great food, it too is an apatite stimulant and will actually help keep their colour bright.

Ok, they sound like younger ones but as long as they look alert, swim about & they show an interest in eating you shouldn’t be too worried. You’re doing everything right (feeding them 2x day small amounts and you’re giving them a bit of variety). It was already suggested to soak some of the food in Garlic (I use the Kent Garlic Xtreme (just a drop) in a couple of ounces of aquarium water prior to feeding) it may help and it may also help their overall health. Eventually they’ll teach you what they like the best.
You do need to monitor your water parameters as the others mentioned but your tank is still fairly new so it sounds as if that too is still adjusting.
