    Can anyone explain the difference between Ocelalris and True Percula clowns? Find a differencial is driving me nuts.

    They have a different number of dorsal spines, nearly impossible to get a long enough look at em to count em lol. That's the only sure way that I know of, although their markings can be a little different but not always the case.

    False percs have a thiner black line and a lighter orange. True percs have a thick black line and a little darker in color..
    But the only fool prove way to know is the spine number.

    For specifics, percula clowns have 10 (sometimes 9) dorsal spines and thick black bands surrounding the white portions. Ocellaris clowns have 11 dorsal spines, thinner black bands, and a taller anterior dorsal fin. Hope this helps.
