Has anyone here had experience keeping marine fish / invertebrates from cold water environments?

I've looked into it on a couple of occasions was looking into doing a custom jellyfish setup but when the equipment bill got around 12k I quit looking at it

It really depends on how cold you need to keep it I was going for a 40-50 degree consistent water temp setup of around 150 gallons

This guy...in addition to having a HUGE Kick A$$ tropical reef, has some pretty cool cold water stuff as well. Check it out.

Those systems look amazing! I've seen some very interesting cold water creatures - there's got to be a way to do a DIY chiller that could keep everything cold, and not run up the pricetag of the system. 55 degrees would be roughly 23-25 degrees colder than what I keep my house .... hrrm.

Steve's coldwater reefs were in his garage so that helped him a lot.

You have to have a MONSTER skimmer as just about everything is non-photosynthetic and requires a lot of food.

Good point. Money that's normally spent on lighting would be spent on a giant skimmer :cheesy:
