Sorry to hear about ur issues,
buy an HP in the future and I'll support it for ya. ;)
Then again, it would have to be an ia64 or a parisc cause I'm only good for enterprise and mission critical support... Other than that, I require a cooked meal for pc support. ;)

j/k - my wife would shoot me if I did not fix someones box if they asked....
It's too hard to hammer out just one issue now days, but I think it's OS related. If you want help learning linux --- let me know. ;)

    good luck!

This is off subject......but does anyone remember the Atari 520ST (upgradable to a 1040ST)? That's right.....1 meg of RAM. I had a 20meg HD to go with it and a screaming 300baud modem. I could access billboards (pre-Internet) with it. Revolutionary.

...I do recall. Those were exciting times...every new piece of technology was talked about and fondled with anticipation...and it was spendy....first 2x cd rom was about 60.00 if I recall...and worth every penny....using XTREE GOLD OS...pre windows...386.. I remember having a 133 pentium with 64 megs of ram and a 4 gig hard drive..first REAL computer....I was king daddy with that.ran some RED HAT...for a month...then the chit hit the fan...no one has/can looked back since....
Now its terabite back up ...dual 2.8 gig processors...256 megs of ram on just the video memory! Liquid cooled proceesor cooling towers..2 gigs of RAM..a couple 500 gig internal SATA drives...what floppy ?? two dvd / cd / reader writers....37 inch lcd screen..wow.it just dont stop......Thanx for the trip down memory lane.

    Hey Jason
Are you still having issues ?

So you said you replaced a monitor, is this when it happened ? If it did, do you still have the old one to put in ? I have seen many times that the new monitor did not handle the resolution that was set and would go black after windows post.

If that is not the issue, then as someone said, go in as safe mode and consult the device manager for issues. If that is clean, ask your self, "Self, what was the last software package or installation that was performed"

Also, do you have any errors in the event log ? If this is windows, from the run command enter eventvwr and review the logs for errors.

If this is XP or Vista, you can use the system restore back to a day or two to see if the error goes away.

Things you mention lead me to believe that you may be one that overclocks video or CPU. If this is the case, did you mess with these lately ? Come on fess up...

Anyway, just a few things to look at.

    Cheers

I have had my Quad Core for a while and love it too J. You will like the speed when you start multitasking.
