This Q has been asked many times, search "controllers" and read through the threads. Have fun;D. I have the Aqua Controller Jr from Neptune Systems and I love it. Luna

From the little research I did the Apex Aquacontroller is supposed to be the awesomest! It's not out yet tho.

It is very confusing at first, in fact, I still dont have a 100% handle on these things, but if you read enough and talk to some ppl who have them, you can put 2 & 2 together. You will basiclly need to figure out what you need to control now and in the near future. In my case, since I dont have any kind of reactors or sophisticated equipment, I bought the AC Jr. It can handle up to 12 outlets, from ph to make waves, to lighting schedules, to turn on/off heaters, fans, wet floor sensors, ato units, drippers and a bunch of other "add-on" modules. I went to www.marinedepot.com and read all I could read about them. Good luck on your choices and when you do get one, you'll wonder how you lived without one.;D

Aquacontroller 3 I believe has the best internet accessibility (at least for me since there's an Iphone app to connect to it too) that I'm aware of between the major medium-priced controllers, the Reefkeeper and Aquacontroller. That was my main concern/feature. Most of the other stuff is just timers and a PH/temp controller.

A lot of it probably depends what you want to use it for. What's important to you? Do you need to control multiple tanks? Do you need/want the internet accessibility? How important is having multiple PH probes and an ORP probe? Is expandability important to you? Etc etc.

Also +1 for Marine Depot research to compare features.

FWIW Neptunes (make of ACjr, AC3, etc) has a new one coming out in a few weeks, the APEX. The base price is $500 or so but it's light years ahead of their last controllers. It'll work with previous plug in components even :)
