Hi, I got a biocube 29 not long ago and was wondering if anybody knew of a way to modify the fans to help cool the lights better than the stock fans. Since I started this tank, I've noticed a slight increase in the water temp from 79 to around 81-82. If anyone knows of a way to better cool these without having to purchase an aquarium chiller, that would be great. Thanks in advance.

81-82 really isn't anything to worry about..if you know thats all the hotter it is going to get i would just leave it. I keep mine steady at 81 and i have seen some that keep it higher. The thing you want to watch is the temperature swing from day to night. If 2 degrees or so, it will not matter..but if it gets larger you may want to get a heater for the nighttime hours if you don't already have one

Just use a regular, household fan and point it at it. It's ugly but it works.

you can either open the lid during the day when lights are one (the little viewing window), open the actual lid a couple times a day, or you can use the fan idea...however you would have to open the lid then too....

I personally took the lid off all together and got a new light for it

One suggestion is to find some AC powered computer fans and attach them inside or outside of the canopy. One idea is you could attach some to those cooling vents on top of the tank, one fan can be pulling air into the canopy and the other could pulling it out. That would give you some decent circulation around the lights and help with the heating problem.
