My yellow tang and coral beauty are in a hospital tank right now because of an ich outbreak in my DT. I just started copper treatment 3 days ago my fish don't seem to mind it too much except my yellow tang has some frayed fins. How long should I keep the copper in the hospital tank? Also, I noticed the water looks a little cloudy in the hospital tank, is this because of the lack of bio filtration? I do 5 gallon daily wc's to keep the ammonia down. Both fish are eating OK.

I would get a cooper test asap, i dont like dosing anything with out testing, if you have the test you will be able to dose correclty. Also, if you dont want them to get ich you have to leave ur tank fallow for 8 weeks.

The tank being cloudy is interesting, and something I havent noticed while keeping mine in the HT.
Copper needs to be in the tank at full dose 24/7. The fish need to remain being treated for copper one week after the ich is no longer visible. If it is not visible and does not come back for them for a week, then treatment is done.

I guess it's not really "cloudy" just hazy defiantly not as clear as my DT. The ich hasn't been visible since I dosed the copper but I know you can't always see ich but the ich hasn't been visible for about 3 or 4 days.

What meds do you use? May i suggest kick-ick? This is an expensive medication, but does not include Cu and works well. Remember, stress is the number one cause of ick. All fish have it (sort of speak), but stress is what really brings it out and allows ick to get out of control.

The cloudy water may be caused by dead bacteria from your bio filter that were killed from the copper treatment.
