coral beuty

Iv had a coral beauty for around 6months now but he is starting to nip at my corals. Not aggressive and not for long but he is nipping. Does he need to go or will the corals put up with it? I can trade him in at lfs

 

Try feeding different foods or more food. I doubt the fish will stop though.

 

+1, likely it won't stop. The question is if it spreads out the nipping and if you have enough corals. I have caught my Flame Angel doing a bit of nipping, but I haven't seen any negative signs from any of the corals yet.

What corals is it nipping?

 

Agreed with above... once they get a taste, it's hard to get them to stop.

 

I've had one in my tank for a few years now.

He did develop a taste for the following:
millipora
clams

I don't keep those anymore.

Fine with my remaining corals now - which are numerous - what is he nipping at in yours?

its nipping everything but I think its just always after food. When I feed at night it goes crazy and even waits for me to scrape glass during water changes so he can get the algae.
Im going to trade him I think.

He is always at the acan and he even tries the gorg whip

 

How much and what do you feed? Angels need a wide variety of foods and fed often. He could be nipping because he's looking for food. I've kept a few dwarf angels and I still have my coral beauty after 2 years and never had a problem. I keep them fed with a very large selection of foods and live macro algae.

 

what macro algae do you feed SS? do you keep it in your tank? Sorry, if that's a stupid question

 

Its called macro feast by reef nutrition. My angels, sohal and purple tang devours it. Plus it grows easy. Its a deep red algae.
