Ok, as promised in my earlier post, I've got a question...(shocking.....lol)
I bought this frg alng with a zoo at my lps. It was in their..."we buggered it" section...2 for $20.... the zoo looked good, I figured Id take a chance on this guy. Hard skeleton, the puffy orangey parts are becoming bubbly now & I see some new growth towards the middles. Apparently I'm a good coral nurse, although I pretty much know squat at this point.... the bare minimum to get by....Anyway.... I'm wondering what kind it is & what the heck is that new "tentical" growing off the top left piece. It appeared 2 days ago. I'm thinking it's a good thing.. but hey, what do I know.... Any help would be appreciated.....

Yep, aiptasia. Pest anemone and it will sting and take over corals. Zap it with some joe's juice or aiptasia x

CRAP.... I was crossing my fingers that it wasn't....damn i hope it doesn't spread... I heard that injecting it with lemon juice would do the trick...?? I just so happen to have a diabetic daughter with some spare needles.... what do ya think?

I just poked at it & it seems to retract into the green spikes surrounding the outside of that coral.... I don't think i could inject it.... it retracts too fast...hmmmmm

I don't use a needle I just use the syringe and I have had no luck with the lemon juice. Get joes juice or aptasia x and if you want to try peppermint shrimp.

Yep. Just get the joes juice. All you have to do is squirt it on it - you dont have to touch it with anything.

you can kill it if you can inject it with the lemon juice. It looks big enough to. you have to inject from the side though, not through the mouth. I've killed many that way, but got tired of messing with trying to inject them and bought some joe's juice.

Well I got the Joes & zapped the sucker.... it's gone, tiny thing, hopefully the last. While I was at the store I was peepun the corals to see if I could find something similar to the host (green & orange guy) because I still have no idea what it is....I think I have a partial answer... I think it is a brain of some kind...(in horrible shape..lol) I saw a brain there, nice & bubbly but the one side looked damaged. On closer inspection, it looks just like mine does, ... all over... I didn't realise just now bad off this piece of coral was! The good thing is it is getting better from where it started...... hopefuly in a few months it will be a nice piece, right now it looks pretty sad. If it ever does look like the specimin I saw today I'll be pleases a punch, cause that piece retailed for over $60... I paid $10.....Damn I love a deal. ;P
