I just kind of noticed it's all over the place, and my tank is almost brand new! That's good, right?

Yes. If you see a white rim around the individual sections then it is progressively growing.

Your tank parameters are at an ideal level for it's growth. I.E. Proper calcium, magnesium, alkalinity and phosphate levels are ideal and it means you are doing something right.

For never having tested for anything in my tank, I'd say that's pretty darn good.

If you do regular water changes, you should be fine with a low stock of corals. As your colonies grow and new pieces are added, you are going to want to test to know how much calc, alk and mag your system is tying up daily so that you can dose appropriately.
