    Hey Everyone,

What is needed within a tank to grow coralline algae? I hear you would need the following. Rock with Coralline already growing on in to seed the tank, High calcium 460-480, Alk of 7-12DK, Mag of 1280 - 1380, good lighting cycle where you have alot of Actinic blue lighting, Med to high water flow. Please share you thoughts on this subject?

+1 on above, plus it helps to seed the other rocks by scraping coralline off the rock its on and allowing bits to fall onto the bare rocks you want to encourage growth on

I have used it and got coralline growth quicker, than I had on previous set ups
there are other ways/ cheaper ways - but as products go, I found this one to do what it indicated it would do

it does not contain coralline though, you still need some to seed the tank with

I used "Purple Up" also when I first started. It's easy to start with and make sure you have decent water quality.

Now that my tank has pretty much stabilized I see the coralline growing over all of my rocks. One thing I did was take a scraper to my rocks that had some already sprouting and blew the shavings all around the tank with the pumps/skimmer off.

I wish I could stop the coralline from growing in my tank. It's a pain in the butt on the front. Having an acrylic tank doesn't slow it down any, I think the stuff loves plastics.

"Time my friend, all in due time" All of the above ideas work. Seeding with a heavily aquacultured rock helps the best. Coral up also increases the calcium in your tank which is what brings on the coraline so monitor the calcium on your water. Trace elements and other parts in sea water contribute also.
I am not a scientist, this is just an opinion.
